Saturday, July 19: Heal

Morning

Early morning was a little “messy” but resolved with amazing nursing team, followed by…

A most welcome visit from a pastor-friend from church, a welcome encouragement for both J & A. I moved from hotel to Airbnb in anticipation of a post-discharge support for a day or so before I’m Minnesota bound.

Afternoon

As I entered J’s room just after 12 noon, I heard a joyful declaration of “Solid Food Approved!!” Glory to God in the highest!!

Solid food went well…turkey burgers, kale, rice, there was more, but I don’t even recall: num, num!

J’s eyes were more alert, his coloring more…well, improved for sure! (we were trying to find the right word…I was thinking he was “not as pallid,” and A said “not green.” I think she’s more accurate on that one…maybe it depended on lighting…LOL!)

More than that…J was chatty!! Talking, checking his phone. More talking, eating, drinking water, protein shake, you name it…it was beautiful!

Evening

The “special blend” IV bag was brought. It came with lots of doctors and a trauma PA from Idaho. She was assigned to sit with us for 75 minutes to observe J’s response to the blend. Why this blend?

IV bags have protein, amino acids and other nutrients to hyper-support healing of the body, especially at the incision. How administration of the bag was executed……well, we always taught the kids to respect the referees and their authority, so I’ll hush.

Both J and A were sleeping. I had already informed them that I would go when things got quiet. I prayed over them quietly from the door and headed “home.”

A texted me 10 minutes later…overnight was hard. VERY HARD. Hallelujah he’s in a hospital with care at the ready.

I’m going to include all the prayer requests in the next post (Sunday, July 20).
