Thursday, July 24: Flow

Morning

Short version: docs have ordered an enterography CT. It will take detailed pics of the small intestine to identify if there’s truly a blockage or if more advanced foods were introduced too soon given all the challenges. The goal is for all foods and fluids to FLOW freely through the system God intricately and brilliantly designed. Flow!

The dietitian, Susan, stopped by with lots of information. She accepted my invitation to return and speak with J & A jointly because that info will be useless for a Stephanie in Minnesota.

Afternoon

It’s 2:22 pm and they just took J down for the CT. I’m excited for the good report with a viable plan of forward progress and flow. Life and life more abundantly in John 10:10 is not about having everything we want. It’s about what we have in Christ not being stolen and killed and destroyed by the enemy.

Life more abundantly gains granular perspective in a hospital intensive care unit.

Pray

  • …not only for healing and health for J and A, but rebuking the enemy’s efforts to “steal, kill, and destroy” (also John 10:10).
  • for the dietitian to be heard by the medical team; she has thoughts and opinions on protein intake that will help feed J’s brain.
  • Morale (spiritual, mental, emotional) renewal and resolve for J & A…this is a marathon for them in so many ways!
  • If the Holy Spirit urges you to pray in a certain area, please do. This blog can’t cover it all and my heart can’t carry it all. But as a community of believers, we can share the burden and fulfill the law of Christ.

Praise

  • …for the life more abundantly that they have in Jesus, even when it’s hard to see and feel in the circumstance. The hope found in Jesus is an abundance we often take for granted…till that hope is threatened. Hallelujah for hope and that not deferred!!

Late Afternoon

HALLELUJAH! The involved CT scan revealed a clear passage for things to FLOW! The obstruction seen before is still there, but has decreased significantly. It will take time as J’s abdominals “wake up,” using the doctor’s words.

He’s been upgraded to a clear, liquid diet, along with dairy free protein drinks! Grow, body, grow!

I will head back to the Airbnb just after the nurses change shifts. I’m praying he can get a quality night’s sleep. Then even be downgraded to 4th floor!

(no lie, I’m praying I can get a quality night’s sleep, too.)

Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations.

Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience.

But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God [Who gives] to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him.

Only it must be in faith that he asks with no wavering (no hesitating, no doubting).
